The Saint Anselm campus was spackled with pink on Sunday, October 16 as students prepared for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, sponsored by the American Cancer society. Students from all different organizations prepared to walk three miles through Manchester for the cause. This year, about 1500 participants, over 130 teams, and 155 survivors raised a total of $235,000.

The Student Nursing Association, King Edwards Society, and Koinonia were just some of the organizations involved. Many student athletes participated in the walk and have hosted or plan on hosting a game to raise money for breast cancer. Matt Morison stated, "the walk was a really good time. There was a lot of people from Saint A's supporting a good cause and helping to fight cancer." After the walk on Sunday morning, exhausted students proclaimed how much they truly enjoyed participating in the walk. Junior Tori Casey stated, "it really was a great experience seeing so many people walking together to raise awareness for such an important cause."

Along with Casey many other students who participated in the walk had the same reaction and expressed their amazement upon seeing so many survivors and other people participating. Morison expressed, "it was really inspirational to see students and families there whose families are currently affected by cancer."

The American Cancer Society knows that cancer touches not only the people who are diagnosed, but that it also has an immense impact on those around them.

This is why the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk unites communities to celebrate people who have battled breast cancer, educate people about the ways to reduce their risk, and empower groups to join the fight. The Saint Anselm community bonded together with other members of the city of Manchester to raise money that will help save life, find cures, and help people stay well.lm students were fighting against breast cancer.
