Campus facelift kicks into high gear

The college is making some major changes to the layout of its campus this year.

The Joan of Arc parking lot, where many students park their cars on a daily basis, is being eliminated. Instead, the college will be putting a green space similar to the quad in front of Bertrand and Brady halls. This will give freshman students their own quad where they can gather among their peers.

To replace the parking spaces, the construction crews are leveling out a new lot to go beside Sullivan Arena. This will provide a new and improved lot to park in, as well as redirect traffic.

Construction is expected to continue for as long as weather permits. This project is not likely to be finished until next academic year.

The campus facelift isn't the only aesthetic change on campus recently. The Oct. 29 storm also provided crews with a lot of work on campus. As a result of the high winds and heavy snowfall, many trees lost branches and leaves.

St. A's students were lucky, however, that the college did not lose power. Many in the Manchester area were not as lucky and were without of power for days afterwards.
